How to prepare for meditation?

Well, it’s entirely up to you. You do not need to prepare anything more at all.

However some people find it easier, if they create a small ritual around meditation, so their mind and body are winding down, getting ready for the experience or they can simply find it more relaxing, when they do any or all of the following:

  • light a candle or even several of them, or dim the light in the room
  • burn incenses, like Sage for cleansing, Rose to open your heart centre, or Sandalwood to calm your mind and get into a meditative state easier.
  • If you don’t like the smokey smell of incenses, you can burn oils instead, such as Geranium (balancing), Lavender and Bergamot (relaxing). When I say burn I mean to put 1-3 drops of fragrance into an oil burner. At the top you fill it up with water and at the bottom there is a hole to place a tea candle in, which you light to warm the water and let the fragrance fill the room, as it evaporates.
